It's summer in the Bay Area. That means the farmers' market is packed and there's more fruit than affiliate program directories even I know what to do with, or keep up with! It's one of the reasons why I want to keep teaching the Seasonal Fruit Dessert class . The students in this last one learned how to make: whole cherry clafouti, blueberry & cornmeal cake, and light vanilla cake, which is just like angel food cake but simpler and kissed with butter. What the class ate: the above recipes, fresh cherry granita, goat yogurt pannacotta garnished with cubed Riverdog red watermelon, Royal Blenheim apricot caramel and halves of the rare fruit {to teach taste & body memory}, cherry sauce (recipe will be in the Summer Issue of Edible San Francisco !), and whipped creme fraiche to tie it all together. If you find yourself in these here parts I beg of you to buy stone fruit from Blossom Bluff . I get everything from them except peaches. Ted grows almost all the hybrids , as well as some of the best nectarines I've ever tasted. And now they even have T shirts for sale! I have photographed Blossom Bluff's boxes because you'll note that they now advertise that they are Organic. This is a big deal for Ted & Fran as, for many years, they identified with the California Clean movement, but have recently crossed the line to full Organic.
